If you want to refer to decades, remember that the apostrophe should be before the number, NOT AFTER THE DECADE AND BEFORE S.
It's '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s, or '90s.
NOT 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, or 90's.
Don't compare them to you. They are not that possessive.
Must be the reason they remain endearing.
